Reverend Isadore Lane
“All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God.” 1 John 4:15 NLT
Born February 7, 1955 on the Lane farm in Huntsville, Alabama. The second son of Pastor James Lane and Mary Emma Wiggins Lane. His four siblings include: Mrs. Patricia Lane Bullard, Mrs. Cassandra Yvonne Lane Riggins, Dr. James Lane Jr, and Minister Roderick Lane.
As a young man, he was an active participant in the Alabama 4-H club. This program not only enriched his life but encouraged his desire to become the first African American Senator for Alabama. On his journey, he attended Columbia University in New York and the University of Oxford in Paris, France. Then he completed his undergraduate degree at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
For his masters’ degree, he attended Howard University where he studied philosophy and met the love of his life, Patricia Ihuaku Amadi. His dreams of being a Senator were derailed as he began to build his wonderful life with his new wife. Together, they had three children (Uzoma Isadore Peter Lane, Kelechi James Lane, and Lilian Ihuaku Adeze Lane), and built several successful businesses. Isadore worked for the DC government for several years before co-founding Coates & Lane Enterprises. Then he was called to the ministry where he became a full time Reverend serving multiple churches in the Washington, DC area. He dedicated several years of his life to advocating for the underprivilege and underserved members of the community through organizations such as Healthy Babies, the Mid-Northeast Collaborative, Weed and Seed, and the DC Council of Churches. As a devoted husband and father, he supported his wife’s vision to open a daycare center. First, their home was transformed to support their children as well as the neighborhood. Next, they opened an Accredited School for 50 students. Then, they opened New Community Child Development Center for 200 students.
Isadore is survived by two children: Mr. Kelechi James Lane (Mrs. Markita Lane) of Severn, MD and Ms. Lilian Lane of Washington, DC.
He was blessed with two grandchildren: Jasmine Morris (4 years old) and Kelechi Lane Jr (2 years old).
**In remembrance of Isadore’s eldest son, Uzoma Lane, there will be a dedication to him during Isadore’s celebration of life. Uzoma Isadore Peter Lane was born February 18, 1983 in Washington, DC at the George Washington University Hospital. He died on June 24, 2024.
