

On Sunday, August 31, 2025, God welcomed Jacqueline L. Wood into His Kingdom. Jacqueline, also known as, “Jackie” “Ma” “Grandma” “Aunt” “Powerful Intercessor” and “Friend” personified godliness, love, peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, temperance, faith, modesty, meekness, beauty, long suffering, generosity, and grace. A woman of character. A stately woman. One who spoke with wisdom and had the law of kindness on her tongue. A fortress for many. An inspirer. Supporter. Not your average woman. One who pioneered paths that only individuals dare to cross. One who travailed amidst sorrow. A majestic spirit attuned into the Holy Realm. Entrepreneur. Even more significantly, Jacqueline ultimately fulfilled God’s calling on her life and prevailed victoriously.
Born in Dallas, TX, raised in Chicago, IL, resided in Mt. Airy, PA, Washington, DC, and rested in Bowie, MD. She was a creditable graduate of the Stenotype Institute and Strayer University, in Washington, DC. Jacqueline was a tireless worker, who shared spaces with the renowned President Gerald Ford, worked industriously as a Legal Contractor with Senate and Congressional Committees, International Union of Operating Engineers, and The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Additionally, she worked for The U.S. District Court, and presently, D.C. Superior Court and Pleasanton & MARSAA Court Reporting. Jacqueline was diligent at all that she set her hand to do. This is reflected in numerous recognitions including but not limited to a recent honorary recipient award from the Office of the Mayor, Washington, DC, for exceptional professionalism with judicial transcripts and administrative proceedings, versatility, flexibility, dedication, accuracy, integrity, exemplary work, and commitment to serving with excellence. With her poise, she mastered utilizing her work ethic and business acumen to acquire situational leadership applicable experience. Jacqueline was a member of the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) and The Maryland Court Reporters Association (MCRA).
Preceded in death by her doting mother, Dorothy Stell, spirited brother, Jackie Stell, fearless daughter Tamara Roney. Survived by her husband of 48 yrs., John Wood, steadfast daughter Tasha Wood, loving grandson Jeremiah Fegans, stepdaughter Tracie Burnette, step-grandchildren McKenzie Burnette and Dylan Harris, brother in laws, sister in laws, cousins, and several nieces and nephews.
