

Jerry Knox was born on December 14, 1944, in Atlanta, GA to William and Christine Knox. At the age of nine his family migrated to Washington, DC where he received his education in the D.C. School System, at West Elementary, McFarland Middle School and Roosevelt High School.
In 1965 he joined the Armed Forces where he served and was honorably discharged in 1969. In the same year he joined the Metropolitan Police Department. While employed by MPD he vigorously patrolled the 4th District Corridor until he retired in 1996 and continued to work as a security presence at the Arlington, VA courthouse.
Jerry was an avid reader enjoying all types of books. He loved viewing DVDs collecting for four hundred. He liked to watch football and basketball. He also liked to cook and eat. His favorite foods were anything pork, Five Guys and Burger King. What he loved most of all was meeting up with his fellow 4th District retirees and enjoying a good laugh.
On October 17, 1970, he was united to Tijuanna L. Hamilton in holy matrimony. They were married for over 53 years. To this union two children were born: Terence J. Knox and Kendall N. Knox (Yancey).
Left to mourn his death are his devoted wife Tijuanna L Knox, two children Terence Knox and Kendall Knox (Yancey), a devoted son-in-law, Christian Yancey, Sister Tracey Knox (Williams), nephews Lorenze and Lonzel Williams, granddaughter Indiah Dave, Uncle Morris Gibbs and his nieces Keivette Thomas and Lalita Pace and a host of friends and relatives. He is preceded in death by his mother Christine Knox, father William Knox, his sister Sandra Knox and niece Tiffany Knox.
