John Valentine Scott

On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, John Valentine "Johnny" Scott, 88, formally of Cottage City, Maryland and Calvert County, Maryland passed away peacefully in the care of Hospice of St. Mary's at Chesapeake Shores Nursing Center. He was the son of the late Thomas Weston Scott, Jr. and the late Agnes M. Scott.

Johnny is survived by 6 of his siblings, Elizabeth H. Lawrence, Edith M. Chapin, Thomas W. Scott, III (wife, Nancy Scott), Nancy L. Pilkerton, Joan M. Volandt (husband, Mickey Volandt), Jean M. Scott and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. He was pre-deceased by 4 of his siblings, Margaret A. Whalon, Mary A. Bowling, Catherine A. Patterson, and George C. Scott.

John was retired from the D.C. Fire Department, Engine Company 7. He served his Country in the US Naval Reserves. He was also a Life Member of the Cottage City Volunteer Fire Department.

Viewing will be held at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, Maryland on Tuesday, January 6, 2025 at 11A.M., Funeral Service will follow immediately at 12 PM.

Interment will be at Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
