Louie was born on January 8, 1949, the second of 3 children. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Albert Leroy Blalock.
Louie was educated in Washington D.C. and Prince George’s County Public Schools. After leaving high school, he served his country as an enlisted member of the United States Army. As an adult, Louie became a life-long resident of Washington, D.C.
After his service in the military, Louie was employed as a custodian and groundskeeper for several property management companies. He was last employed at Delta Towers where he worked faithfully until January 14, 2021. Louie was a well-loved member of the Delta Towers family. He was known for his ready smile and his willingness to help anyone in need. If you heard people laughing and saw smiles on people’s faces, Louie was definitely in the middle of it! Black, White, young, old, gay, straight – it didn’t matter to Louie. He treated everyone with dignity and respect. Many were honored to know and love him.
Louie loved animals. At any given time, he would have birds, fish or even turtles in his apartment. He liked to read the newspaper while his bird ‘Jam’ sat on his head reading along!
Louie began feeling ill in February 2021. In March 2021, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. After enduring many medical procedures to try to fight the disease without success, Louie accepted the reality of his dying. He didn’t want to live attached to machines. Louie wanted to spend his final days in the comfort and familiarity of his own home. He wasn’t bitter or angry, only sad to be leaving those he loved. We can be confident that Louie lived his life on his own terms, and we know he is at peace.
Louie leaves to mourn his passing wife Jeanette Blalock, sister Cynthia L. Blalock, son Louie A. Blalock III (Iieshay), daughter Andrea Waring (David), 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
