Margaret Mary O'Leary, 75, whom we all knew as Peggy, most recently of Cottage City, Maryland, passed away on August 1st, 2022 in Olney, Maryland, after a long fight with illness. Proudly born in the Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late Adelaide Gardner and Patrick Marron, as well as the wife of her beloved late husband, Francis Xavier O'Leary. Her entire career was focused in hospitality and serving others. No one threw a party better than Peggy. She was a member of the Auxiliary Unit #136 of the Greenbelt American Legion and the Women of the Moose at West Boca, in Deerfield Beach, Florida. She also established and directed the Springhill Lake Teen Club in Greenbelt, Maryland. Peggy loved to surround herself with family and friends.
She is survived by her two sons, Patrick and Robert, her three grandchildren, Taylor, PJ and Brennen and her sisters and brothers, Kathleen, Debbie, Bob and Danny. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by her four brothers, Jimmy, Walter, Patrick and Tommy, Margaret (their "Nana") and her sisters Barbara Anne, Anne and Maureen.
Peggy spent many amazing years with her second family, Yancie and Flip DeFilippo, along with their children, Michael, Krissy, Grant and Jojo, in Prairieville, Louisiana and Crystal River, Florida.
The last chapter of her beautiful life was spent back in the DC area with her son Rob, her son-in-law, William and Rocket, their family dog.
Peggy's last moments were spent with Robbie, William and their dear friend, Heather at her side when she took her last breath. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
