MORRIS FRANCIS LEE
Morris Francis Lee or Beau as he was affectionally known was born March 22, 1927, the middle child of Morris and Geneva Lee. After the loss of their parents, Morris, brother Sonny, and sister Delores were raised by their maternal grandmother Sarah Brown.
Morris was educated in DC Public Schools, attending Armstrong Vocational High School. He joined the United States Army for 4 years followed by 3 years in the Army Reserves. After his time in the service, Morris held various jobs. In his twenties he worked for the United States Department of Defense. Leaving there he was a delivery driver for District News, and for a few years a cab driver. In the early 1970’s Morris went to work for DC Housing, a job he truly loved. He enjoyed helping families find suitable homes and assisting in community development. After retiring from DC government he went to work as a property manager for Murchinson Realty. In the early 1990’s, Morris reached his goal of owning his own business, Phoenix Realty. About the age of 80, Morris retired.
He survived by his children, niece, nephew, brother-in-law, and many cousins. He will be missed by his many friends. The old ones though separated by age and circumstances. His new friends who cared for him in his last years, who made him “happy”.
