Noel George Patterson

4 February, 1934 – 5 January, 2021
IN THE CARE OF

Fort Lincoln Funeral Home & Cemetery

Noel George Patterson, Sr, aka Shorty was born in Manchester Jamaica, on June 13, 1934 to the late Septemus Patterson and Beatrice Morgan Patterson. He was the 5th child of 13 yet he acted like he was the 1st. Papa was educated from basic to trade school in Jamaica. He learned Masonry, Steel Work, Carpentry, brick Work, Electrical Work. Papa was a brilliant hardworking man. He left home at an early age, but always returned to make provisions for his parents and siblings. Papa was a caretaker for his sisters and brothers and their children. Whatever they needed he was there to support them.

As a teenager, Papa aligned himself with contractors and learned from them. You only had to show him something once and he would catch on. He was brilliant like that. He met the late Cecil Bogle, aka Morgan, and Gilbert Kelly, aka Bugu and they became fast friends. In 1963 he moved to Marverly in Kingston and lived across from them. While there, he needed someone to take care of his clothes and was referred to then Daisy Kelly. Love blossomed between them and he became the father of her 4 children later on Sherine was born. Shortly after, in 1966 they were married and Carolyn, aka BabyG was born. Their union produced 10 children, Eric Boothe, the late Yvonne Boothe-Kanneh, Carlton Boothe, Donna Boothe-Alvarez, Sherine Patterson, Carolyn Patterson, Sheryl Patterson-Williams, Lesa Patterson-Morris, Noel Patterson, jr, Janice Patterson-Powell. Papa loved his “Ms. Daisy”. He worked very hard to provide for his wife and children. Mama did not have to work. By now, Papa was an independent contractor who employed others. He instilled in all of his children the need to be educated and to work hard. He never failed to provide for his wife and children who were the center of his life.

Papa along with 7 of his children, migrated to America in 1983. He hit the ground running and went anywhere he could find work. After being injured on the Job, Papa decided to work for himself and started Patterson Home improvement. God blessed him to employ and train many young men who went on to start their own home improvement business.

Seven years ago, Papa was stricken with 4 bleeding strokes. After this, he was unable to work and needed help to do some things. Mama lovingly took care of him until she needed help. Papa rededicated his life to God and took right hand of fellowship at the Mystery Church of God where the whole family worship. Papa loved the Lord. He loved to dance and delighted in singing the songs

Papa loved and he was loved. Covid-19 reared its head and attacked him. He fought Covid-19 hard and no matter what, never complained. His favorite sayings “me alright,” “anything, anything, any size.” Early in the morning of January 5, 2021, Jesus took his hand and called him out of this life to eternity. Although it breaks our heart that he is gone, we rejoice to know that he has made up his jewels with the Lord and is resting safely in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Papa will be greatly missed. His dear sister as he called her, Rubena Patterson-Peart, Aunty Ruby to us, followed Papa in death exactly 1 week later. He loved his dear sister and whenever we visited Florida or she visited us, we would laugh and hug and talk all night long. We thank God for the memories. Sleep in peace Papa. We love you, but Jesus Loves you best. We bid you goodnight until we meet again at Jesus’ feet.

He is survived by his wife, Daisy Patterson (Ms. Daisy), his 10 children: Eric Boothe, the late Yvonne Boothe-Kanneh, Carlton Boothe, Donna Boothe-Alvarez, Sherine Patterson, Carolyn Patterson, Sheryl Patterson-Williams, Lesa Patterson-Morris, Noel Patterson, Jr, Janice Patterson-Powell; 16 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren-1 preceded him in death and 8 great-great grandchildren.
