Valerie Oberon Dudley

Valerie Oberon Dudley, 67, of Silver Spring, Maryland went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 30, 2021. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 27, 1954, the daughter of the late Ralph Frazier Smith Sr. and Shirley Ann Monroe Smith.

Valerie grew up in Charlottesville, VA and attended Charlottesville City Schools. She was a graduate of Lane High School in 1972, where she was a cheerleader, homecoming attendant, key club sweetheart and a member of the girls basketball team and she participated in a German Student Exchange Program. She always made sure to maintain close relationships with her classmates over the years for which many thought of her as the glue that kept everyone together. She furthered her education and attended James Madison University, and Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave, VA where she earned a Childcare Certificate, Magna Cum Laude. Her dedication to her Administrative career before retiring in 2021, included Hercules Inc., Optimus Corp., and Robert Philipson & Co.

Her hobbies included spending time with her friends and family and her grandchildren, listening to music; with a special loving for Go-Go, traveling, watching UVA sports and the Philadelphia Eagles.

She was a faithful member of Berean Baptist Church, in Washington, DC until she was unable to attend anymore, where she served as a faithful member of the finance committee for many years.

She leaves to cherish her memory and legacy, through her union with Carroll Franklin Dudley; two daughters, Monica Dudley, Michelle Dudley, both of MD; and one Son, Marcus Dudley and wife Kamila, of MD. Seven Grandchildren; Jamia, Gabby, Jayden, Jade, Max, Ella & Ruben Jr. She also leaves to cherish, three brothers, Ralph Smith Jr. and wife Anita, and Earl Smith both of TX, Jerome Parson, of VA, one sister, Gloria “Dodie” Maupin, of VA, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
