Vernell Vivian Jenkins, died peacefully at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital on January 17, 2020. She lived 79 years and was a resident of Transitional Care Center Capital City. where you could often find her cheering on the Redskins. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Vernell Vivian Jenkins “Big Nell” was born at Freeman’s Hospital in St Mary’s County Maryland. She attended Frederick Douglas JR High school and Randall High School in Washington DC.
Vernell with her older Sister Florence Loved to get in to mischief. Vernell told her younger sister that there was no Santa Claus and the girls, Florence, Vernell and Rosa got in trouble.
Even though her mental illness kept her from her family, she never stopped asking about and talking about all of them. Vernell loved all of her Family.
Vernell was pre-deceased by her parents, Henrietta Jenkins and James Pinkney, her siblings Florence Palmer and Ernell Jenkins, her children Michael Jenkins, Vivian Jenkins and Bernard Jenkins.
She has left to cherish her memory a daughter, Terri Jenkins and a son Tyrone Jenkins. A sister Rosa Washington and a brother James Jenkins. Her Grand Children, Boo Boo Budd, Latika Jenkins, Michael Jenkins JR and Jamal Richardson and a Great Grand Daughter Vernetta Jenkins. Her Nieces and Nephews, Milton Palmer JR, Darlene Palmer, Denise Wilson, Marquita Wilson, Shanetta Wilson, Jean Wilson, Joan Jenkins, Michael Jenkins, Pamela Jenkins, Bryant Jenkins, Tyrell Jenkins, Danita Allison, Charles Washington and Karen Washington.
