OBITUARY

Ms. Viola E Colea

2 March, 1919 – 18 January, 2021
IN THE CARE OF

Fort Lincoln Funeral Home & Cemetery

“Her children rise up and call her blessed;” Proverbs 31:28a

She was referred to by many names: “Mrs. Colea, Vi, Yolanda, Ma, Mom, Grandma, Gram, or Great-Grandma.” But she was known to all as a woman who welcomed everyone into her home with a smile. Her house was a place to recline. It was a table to sit share a meal, where the spaghetti never seemed to run out, but the meatballs were rationed. It was a time to fellowship joyfully with family and friends.

On January 18, 2021, Viola E. Colea was called to her heavenly home, to be welcomed by the Lord into the fellowship of believers. She passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family, to her place of rest, and to eternal joy.

Viola E. Colea, of Huntingtown, MD, was born in Penns Grove, Salem, New Jersey on March 2, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Antonio Carlucci and Giovina Curti Carlucci.

She attended St Dominic grade school and Eastern High School in Washington, DC.

On November 24, 1940, Viola married Frank J. Colea. They were united together in marriage for over 50 years before his passing in 1993. Their love for each other and their family was evident to all. They especially loved to dance with one another. They shared a true joy in life together, and their home was filled through the years with singing, with laughter, and with love.

God blessed the Colea’s with five children; one daughter and four sons. They raised their family in Mt. Rainier, MD. Viola had twelve grandchildren, and twenty-five great grandchildren who love and miss her dearly.

Viola enjoyed spending time with her friends especially at the senior center; and outperformed most during exercise class. The last few years she transitioned to home workouts while under John’s care and motivation.

Viola is preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is also now reunited with her late husband Frank John Colea (1915-1993), and her beloved first-born son, Frank “Frankie” Joseph Colea (1944-1994).

Surviving relatives include: daughter Joyce (Mike) Campbell, and sons Arthur (Sharon), Joseph (Jeannette), John Colea and daughter-in-law Mary; along with her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services for Viola E. Colea will include the Mass of Christian burial at Jesus the Divine Word in Huntingtown, MD on January 29, 2021 at 10:30 A.M.followed by a gravesite service at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD.

Viola was blessed with nearly 102 years of life on the earth. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and hospitality to her family, and to all who knew her. We mourn the loss of her presence with us. Yet we rejoice that she now stands in the presence of the Lord, and in the company of so many precious loved ones gone before her. We thank God for the gift of her life. We ask him to continue to bless and keep her family as we celebrate her memory as a treasure in our hearts.

Now may you rest and recline at His banquet table, dear Viola E. Colea. May you feel the eternal embrace of the Savior, Jesus Christ. May you bask in the light of the Lord’s glory in your heavenly home.

“I will praise You, For You have answered me, And have become my salvation.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭118:21‬ ‭
