Jim was born on April 12, 1950 in Scottsbluff to Charlie and Velma (Howard) Sinks. He attended school at McGrew and Bayard, graduating from Bayard High School. After graduating, he started his own custom hay swathering business. Jim was united into marriage to Twilla Bowers on May 29, 1969 at Scottsbluff. They made their home in Bayard, where they raised their three sons; Randy, Rick, and Jim C.
Jim enjoyed skeet shooting, attending rodeos, modified tractor pulling, and racing his Dodge Swinger.
Jim is survived by his wife Twilla Sinks; sons Randy, Rick (April Gleason), and Jim C.; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother Charles K. (Dee); sisters Janet (Herb) Schneider, Phyllis (Mike) Willich and Carol (Bob) Crable; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson’s Punky and Baby Jimmy; daughter-in-law Terri Sinks; and great-grandson Zeek.
