

Richard Dean Hoagland, 70, of Minatare, died October 9, 2006 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, October 14th, 2006 at the Hope Congregational Church in Bayard with Pastor Ted Meter officiating. Interment will be at the Bayard Cemetery. The US Marine Corps Honor Guard will render military honors. Bayard Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements. Dick was born on February 24, 1936 in Marsland, NE to Howard and Dorothy (Walden) Hoagland. He joined the USMC in April of 1954 and served in the Korean War as a heavy truck driver. After being discharged from the Marine’s, he married Reva Jean Nation in August of 1959. He owned and operated trucks most of his life, and was a cattle order buyer for many area feedlots and ranchers. In addition, he also ventured into the restaurant business from 1985 - 1996. He enjoyed having family and friends together for a good meal and to visit. He had the gift to gab and was always visiting with someone wherever he went. His greatest joy in life though was being a PaPa to his grandkids and spending endless hours playing with them. He is survived by his son Michael Hoagland of Kabul, Afghanistan; daughter Julie (Allen) Fiscus of Bayard; companion Diane Potter; brothers Howard (Lorene) Hoagland, Wayne (Betty) Hoagland, all of Bayard; sisters Mary (Don) Rien of Pueblo, CO, Pat (Berry) Hankins of Wheatland, WY; grandchildren Laramie Hoagland of Needville, TX, Wyatt & Lexi Fiscus of Bayard, and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, brother Lyle Hoagland, sisters Helen Trussel, Zelda Parker and Irma Goemaat preceded him in death.
