Adele was born in Boston in 1929 and attended Boston schools, including Porsche Law School (now New England School of Law.) She was married to Lauren and Andrea's father, Edward Berly, an engineer and inventor who attended MIT, from 1949 until his early death in 1975. Later, Adele was also married to Dr. Eugene Rawitt from 1980 until his death in 2015. She raised her family in Watertown and Newton, and moved to Boca Raton about 25 years ago.
Adele was a successful homemaker, and she also worked at The New England Book Fair bookstore. She was an avid and excellent Bridge and Mah-Jongg player. Adele was very generous to the many charities she supported, and always thought of her family's needs before her own. In her later years, Adele was always stoic and uncomplaining and intensely interested in all her family members, even as she faced the difficulties of infirmity and old age. She was part of that generation of women who lived through the Depression and WW II—tough, but kind, generous, and extremely capable.
Adele wanted to spend her last years at her home on the ocean in Boca Raton, and she was able to do that. She lived a long and full life. Adele will be missed by all who loved her--family, friends, and neighbors.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday morning, November 20 at 11:45am at Sharon Memorial Park, 120 Canton Street, Sharon, MA 02067.
