Andrew R. Hawley, of Waltham on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. He was 82. For 46 years, he was the beloved husband of Marya R. Levenson. Loving father of Josh Hawley (Jenny Jones), Gina (Kyle) Kantner and Alec (Tamara) Levenson. Adoring grandfather of Callie Jones, Eve Levenson, Eliza Hawley, Abe Kantner and Emmett Kantner. Dear brother of John Hawley, Mary Beamer, and Thomas Hawley (deceased), and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Andy’s love and generosity live on.
Andy was a good soul who brought much kindness and laughter to his family, friends and dogs. He worked as a professor, tech writer, and administrator. He loved singing, playing and listening to bluegrass and folk music, as well as learning Latin and reading Tolkien. Andy’s core values and empathy were demonstrated in his civil rights work and support for the anti-war, women’s movement and other progressive causes. He never missed a chance to vote.
