Barsha Kantor

Barsha Kantor passed away on January 12th. Barsha was a joy to be around. Always positive and optimistic, she saw the bright side of everything. She was encouraging to all; and those she met were immediately taken in with her warmth and hospitality. She married her beloved Jack in 1947 and shared almost 70 years together. Life was an adventure!

Barsha was raised in Boston, graduating from Jerimiah Burke High School. After working on the Army Base during the war, she graduated from Boston University. She and Jack started their life together in Roxbury, but moved to Belmont with their growing family, when Jack opened a shoe business. Later in life she earned her MA in Education, and for many years taught at Mass Bay Community College.

Barsha loved to entertain and bake. Preparing family Shabbat and Holiday dinners was never too difficult for her. She and Jack loved being part of the Temple Emanuel Minyan. Even before they moved to Lasell Village, they were regular morning minyan members, shopping for the breakfast and enjoying the companionship. Until the Pandemic, she was regularly attending Shabbat services with her friends from Lasell.

Barsha, a true matriarch, loved her family unconditionally and spread her love to them in so many ways. Each had a special place in her heart and she in theirs.

Barsha is survived by her children, Susan & Bruce Gold, Owen & Mimi Kantor, David & Teena Kantor, Jeff & Raelin Kantor, her 12 grandchildren Josh (Amanda), Jessica (Chaim), Zack (Cara), Alanna (Lyle), Nathaniel, Alexis, Adrian (Jen), Drew (Sabrina), Cydni (Zach), Arielle (Joe), Alexander (Emily), Aliza,and 7 great grand children.
