Bernard Siegal

Bernard Siegal, of Bedford, MA, formerly of Berkeley Heights, NJ on Monday, June 24, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Barbara (Shapiro). Loving father of William Siegal of Las Vegas, NV, Matthew Siegal & his wife Melinda Lopez of Bedford and Dina Siegal & her husband John Bluthardt of Boston. Cherished grandfather of Madeleine Siegal and Anna Bluthardt. Brother of Jerry Siegel and the late Lila Rosen. A student of the Torah and a graduate of Yeshiva College in Brooklyn, he went on to earn his PhD in pharmaceutical science from Rutgers University. A 50 year member of the American Chemical Society and former chair of the NE chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, he had a long and successful career in research and development of cosmetic and personal care products. He was an avid collector of U.S. coins, lover of baseball and the Sunday NY Times. He began a second career in his retirement as an Income Tax preparer, recognized by the IRS for his volunteer work tax counseling for the elderly. Graveside service at the Shawsheen Cemetery, 314 Great Rd., Bedford on Wednesday, June 26 at 10:00am. Memorial observance following the service until 1:00pm and from 4-7pm at the home of Matthew Siegal & Melinda Lopez. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Bedford Council on Aging, 12 Mudge Way, Bedford, MA 01730.
