Betty (Narva) Friedman of Nashua, NH, formerly of Lexington, MA, on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 99 years of age.
For 56 years, she was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Friedman. Loving mother to Nancy Friedman Rondeau, Judith Friedman, Jeffrey (Lori) Friedman and Gary (Mara) Friedman. Cherished grandmother of Erica Rondeau (Saul Meisler) and Evan Rondeau, David Friedman, Max (Sonja) Friedman, Michael Friedman, and Ari Friedman; devoted great-grandmother to Gabriel Meisler and Rosalyn Friedman. Preceded in death by her brother Morton Narva and her sister Pauline Jacobs.
Betty was one of the triplets born to Morris and Anna (Kibrik) Narva of Providence, Rhode Island. She was raised on Warrington Street and attended Hope High School where she met the love of her life, Leonard, at age 16. Betty attended Westbrook Junior College in Portland, Maine where she graduated with an associate's degree in 1945 with her sister, Lillian. She and Leonard married, and honeymooned in San Francisco, where Leonard began his Navy deployment in the Asia-Pacific. Betty returned to New York, to live with her in-laws, and work in her father-in-law's millinery business. When Lenny returned, they started their family, sharing their love for skiing, travel, tennis, and canoeing. Betty was a talented gardener, and also loved reading, needlepoint, knitting, quilting and playing Mahjong and the piano. A homemaker for decades, she found time to volunteer at multiple public and private gardens, the PTA, at Temple Emunah in Lexington where she was a founder, and as a librarian at the local elementary school. Later she worked as an administrator for a Lexington Savings Bank.
Betty loved people and made friends wherever she went. Always inquisitive, she was an encyclopedia of knowledge about her family, friends, and acquaintances and their life histories. Betty will be missed by so many that she touched.
