
Carole Dane, age 78, of Le Chesnay, France, passed away on December 30, 2021. Daughter of Bertram J. and Miriam G. Dane, late of Brookline, she is survived by her sister Ronnie Dane of New York and her aunt Shirley Grossman of Newton.
Born in Boston, she was a graduate of the Brookline Public Schools (1960) and Goucher College (1964). After working several years as a social worker in France, she earned her MSW from Tulane University in New Orleans and stayed there to work on community development for five years. She returned to France in the late 1970’s, becoming at various times the Director of ANAS, the French national association of Social Workers, and the director of a community health project in Mantes-la-Jolie, outside Paris.
Carole married Patrick du Cheyron in 1984; he predeceased her in 2018. She also earned a Doctorate in political science from the Sorbonne and was the author of “Travailler avec les quartiers en difficulte” (Dunod, 2005).
