Charles D. “Charlie” Gordon of Dedham, formerly of Wellesley passed away peacefully in his home on August 31, 2022. He was born in Boston, to Samuel & Alice (Burnes) Gordon. Charlie grew up in Waban, attended Newton High School and earned a degree in chemical engineering from UMass Amherst. He married his beloved wife “Lulla” (Ruth Ellen Levine) in 1964, his sweetheart since age 16. Charlie was a devoted and loving husband and their boundless affection for one another was evident to all who knew them. They settled in Sharon where they raised their two children, David and Wendy, after which they moved to Wellesley where they lived for 30 years.
In 1963, Charlie joined the family business, Burnes of Boston. Under Charlie’s leadership and with the help of the many valued employees, the business grew to be a worldwide leader in the picture frame and photo album industry.
Charlie was a great athlete who excelled at golf and tennis, which brought many cherished times with his friends and family. He was philanthropic supporting his alma mater, Combined Jewish Philanthropies and Brandeis University, among others. Charlie bravely lived with Parkinson’s for over 30 years.
Along with Lulla, the love of his life and wife of 58 years, Charlie leaves behind his son; David Gordon & his wife Emily, daughter; Wendy Nelson & her husband Erik, sister; Joan Lowe and his cherished grandchildren; Rachel, Lauryn, Mitchell and Samuel.
When enjoying fried clams and strawberry ice cream – we’d love you to think of Charlie.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 2nd at 9:45am at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon.
Memorial observance immediately following the burial through 4pm and continuing Sunday from 2-5pm at the home of Wendy & Erik.
