Dorothy Gould, lovingly referred to by all as “Grammy,” passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4th, 2026 at the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton, Massachusetts, surrounded by family reflecting the deep love she generously shared with others throughout her life.
Family was everything to Grammy. She was a devoted spouse, parent, grandparent, and great- grandparent. She cherished summers at the camp, learning new things, and found great joy in teaching others. An accomplished artist, her favorite mediums were painting and enameling, and she earned numerous awards in local art shows. Her creativity also found expression in making tallism, with and for many family members, each one crafted with beauty, love, and deep personal meaning. With unwavering strength and love, she cared for her late husband and son during their respective illnesses, put herself through graduate school, began teaching art within the community, and ultimately opened her own art studio. At the age of 90, she even taught herself Hebrew. Grammy was known for her loving heart, positive outlook, and vibrant spirit. She gifted us 103 years filled with love, beauty, wisdom, patience, gratitude, and countless lessons. She taught us so much about life, love, and caring for others. She taught us to appreciate life’s simple joys, the warmth of sunshine, the colors of fall leaves and blooming flowers, the music of birdsong, and the wonder of all of G-d’s creatures. Grammy was always ready with a piece of chocolate, Hershey bars or Silver Tops, or her famous chocolate chip cookies. She deeply loved her little Shul, Congregation Shaarei Zedeck, and lived her life guided by the teachings of the Torah. She showed us by her example how to do the same. Grammy reminded us that every day held beauty and encouraged us to seek light even in difficult times. She will forever remain our guiding light, our ray of sunshine.
Grammy is survived by her beloved children, Sally and her husband, Kit Narodick, of Seattle, WA; Sherrill and her husband, Domenic of Littleton; Albert and his wife, Karen, of Lancaster; Jack and his wife, Diana, of Sharon; and Charles and his wife, Nancy, of Sudbury. Family was Grammy’s greatest joy, and nothing made her happier than hearing about the lives of her eighteen precious grandchildren, Lisa, Philip, Samatha, Melyssa, Nadine, Travis, Vanessa, Ben, Sam, Hannah, Emma, Kayla, Noah, Jessica, Stephanie, Michael, Monique, and Tiana. Grammy also kvelled endlessly over her twenty great-grandchildren, Eli, Meira, Gabe, Zoe, Avery, Amayah, Stetson, Lukas, Jenna, Charlotte, Baylen, Fira, Mia, Elana, Zachary, Leora, Harper, Landon, Oshri, and Zohara.
Grammy was predeceased by her husband, the Honorable Morris N. Gould; her son, Harvey Mitchell Gould; her lifelong best friend and sister-in-law, Rose, and her husband, George Gould; her sister-in-law, Sana, and her husband David Gould; her parents, Anna and Jacob; and her sisters and brothers. We can envision Grammy reunited with Auntie Rose, at the lake cottage, sipping a cup of tea on chaise lounge chairs, and sharing family news once again.
Grammy’s influence will continue for generations as she lives on in all of us. May Grammy’s memory forever be for a blessing.
