I just found out that Emily died.  I worked for Emily many years ago at Kehoe, Doyle, Playter and Novick.  I had been friends with Emily for a couple of years prior to my employment with her.  Emily was such an amazing woman, friend, mother, advocate for justice in the workplace and beyond. It's been about 10 years since I last saw her. I am incredibly saddened to hear of her passing.  My heart goes out to her husband Steve, her sons and family.

Though I came to know her later than most I loved her right away and am missing her.  We were hoping for another visit to us in CA.

Emily and I were close friends at Tufts University, where lived in the same dorm and, later, in the same apartment house.  I loved her so much.  She was a wonderful person -- talented, generous, open hearted, filled with wisdom and passion and tenderness and laughter.  My prayers and thoughts are with her as she continues on her everlasting journey of love.

Working with Emily was one the high points about my job at UFE.  I learned so much from her on labor laws that I continue to use.  I also enjoyed just chatting with her about family, friends, etc.  She was intelligent and classy, yet still very much down-to-earth, warm, and friendly.  She will truly be missed.

I was saddened to hear of Emily's death.  She was a fierce advocate for working men and women and union rights.

I am shocked and saddened to learn of Emily's passing.  Though I had not seen her in several years, we worked closely together for  many years through our work with MassCOSH and as friends as well as colleagues.  I learned so much from Emily! About how to advocate passionately while remaining calm and retaining a sense of humor and perspective.  She also ably represented one of my own sons when he was injured at work, and did a great job--for Jeremy and for countless other workers.  I will miss her so much!

I just heard about Emily's passing. I remember Emily fondly from my Boston City Hospital days. My deepest condolences to family and friends.

Emily was passionate about changing the balance of power between working people and employers, and about gaining greater equality for women and people of color.  As a lawyer and as a community member, she never compromised those principles. Her presence was always level-headed, compassionate, and resolute.  She is a shining example of a life lived in the pursuit of justice.  Emily, presente!

I - and all my colleagues at MassCOSH - will miss Emily deeply, and send our warm wishes to Steve and the boys.  I can still hear Emily's voice - strategizing about ways we can improve the lives of workers - passionate but always keeping her warm sense of humor.  Her light will shine on...

I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Emily's death.  Our mothers grew up together and our families spent many hours together when all of us girls were growing up.  I saw her very little after we were adults, but I always remember her smiling.  She was a lovely person.  My heart goes out to all her family.

As a relatively new lawyer, I only recently had the honor of practicing before her at the DIA in the past few years, where she was kind enough to personally offer me her own words of wisdom for the future. I will always cherish the time we spent together - while I lived in Boston, and then later in New Mexico and on visits back to Boston. I went to Temple Emanu-El to pay my respects to Emily's sister, Martha and her dear mother. The sanctuary was full of loving friends. All said Kaddish for Emmy.
I loved Emily and knew her since Girl Scout Camp. She was an amazing woman, so full of wisdom, kindness and humor. She loved her family dearly. She was so proud of her community, and we (her friends from her home town and camp) were so proud to know and deeply love her. I cannot say enough about her. We all have lost an exceptional person. But we have wonderful memories....and we are still so lucky for those thoughts which will always be in hearts and minds.

I was one of Emily's counselors for one of her summers at Eagle Island. As it has cruelly turned out, meeting her again these many years later has only given me the opportunity to appreciate all the more the true magnitude of her loss.
