It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Gillian Myerberg, who brought light and warmth to everyone she touched. Gillian passed away suddenly on September 13, 2025, from heart failure at the age of 50, leaving behind a legacy of love, courage, and unwavering spirit that will forever inspire those who knew her.
Gillian called Akron, OH, Aventura, FL, and New York, NY home, but her true home was wherever her beloved family and friends gathered. She is survived by her devoted mother, Marcia Myerberg, her loving father, Jonathan Myerberg, the love of her life and partner, Brian Taylor, her cherished "aunts" Donna Hennessey and Jane Palley, her dear cousins and countless friends, and Willie, her adored goldendoodle who was never far from her side.
Born in 1975 in Charlotte, NC, Gillian's journey took her to Miss Hall's School and then to Lehigh University, where she earned her B.A. in Political Science. More importantly, these experiences shaped the passionate, outspoken woman who would touch so many lives. At both Miss Hall's and Lehigh, Gillian forged the kind of deep, lasting friendships that would sustain her throughout her life, and where she honed her remarkable gift for speaking truth with both conviction and grace.
Gillian faced life's greatest challenges with extraordinary courage and determination. Through her battles with her health, she never lost her warmth, her humor, or her fierce love for life. Supported by her devoted partner and mother every step of the way, she not only survived but thrived, inspiring everyone around her with her resilience and positive spirit.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg captured Gillian's essence perfectly: "Whatever you choose to do, leave tracks. That means don't do it just for yourself. You will want to leave the world a little better for your having lived." Gillian left beautiful, meaningful tracks. She was a passionate political activist who fought for the causes she believed in, never afraid to stand up for justice and equality. Her warmth drew people from every walk of life into her circle, and if you were Gillian's friend, you became family. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. Her kindness was genuine, her thoughtfulness legendary among those who loved her.
Gillian lived life entirely on her own terms – with authenticity, passion, and an open heart that welcomed all. Though her time with us was far too short, the love she shared and the example she set will live on in all of us.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 12:45 PM at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA. Shiva with the family will be held at the home of Phyllis Weiner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at www.bcrf.org/ or Blood Cancer United (formerly The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) at https://bloodcancerunited.org/ – causes that were close to Gillian's heart and reflective of her courageous journey.
