Howard Eugene Shechter

Howard Eugene Shechter, 90, of Chestnut Hill, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 27, 2022. Howard was born in Lynn MA on October 20, 1931 to Ada Shechter (Swartz) and Jacob Shechter. Howard is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, Judith Shechter (Grocer). His sister Rosalind Goldman of Randolph, MA. His daughter Stacy Schwartz and husband Eric of Revere, MA and grandson Jacob Schwartz. His son David Shechter and his wife Lisa of Concord, NH and granddaughters Danielle Lessard and Rebecca Young.

Howard lived most of his married life and raised his children in Chestnut Hill. After retirement from a long time career as manager of a trucking company, he spent several years helping Judy at her place of business, the RoundAbout gift shop in Chestnut Hill. In recent years, he was the devoted primary caregiver to his wife. He loved his family and delighted all with his wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed thoroughbred horse racing and all four major professional Boston sports. His greatest joys included attending his grandson’s Bar Mitzvah and celebrating holidays with his family.

A private graveside service will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022 for immediate family.
