Born on October 8, 1947 to Betty and Al Haber, Jerry grew up in Troy, New York and graduated from Troy High School. He earned his BA and DDS from the State University of New York at Buffalo, then continued his education at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine, where he received his DMSc in immunology and certificate in periodontology.
For more than four decades, Jerry practiced as a periodontist, taking immense pride in the compassion and care he provided to his patients. His patients also developed meaningful friendships with him that transcended his clinical practice.
Undoubtedly, Jerry’s favorite role in life was that of grandfather to Hannah, Eliza, Jake, Noa, and Asa. He cherished every moment with them and taught them the essentials in life – how to snow ski, waterski, fish, catch a baseball, drive a motorboat, sew dress-up clothes, and most importantly, spend time with family.
He was equally proud of his children, Abbey Haber and Douglas Haber, and welcomed their spouses, Chris Lindstrom and Michelle Leung, with open arms into the family he treasured. His 59 year love affair with his wife, Susan Haber, served as the foundation of his family and the model of devotion.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife Susan Haber; his daughter Abbey Haber and her husband Christopher Lindstrom; his son Douglas Haber and his wife Michelle Leung; his sister Sylvia Bookbinder and her husband Ronald; and his five adored grandchildren: Hannah, Eliza, Jake, Noa, and Asa.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 25, at 10:30 a.m. at Temple Shir Tikva, 141 Boston Post Road, Wayland, MA. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances in Jerry’s honor be made to the Anti-Defamation League of New England. http://adl.org/tributetodrhaber
