Joan Goldblatt of Brookline, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025 at the age of 92 ¾ . Forever wife of Allan Goldblatt (1932-2004). Beloved mother of Lisa Goldblatt Grace and Jim Grace, Steve Goldblatt and Lisa Mate, and Jim Goldblatt and Donna Goldblatt. Adored grandmother of Avery, Cooper, Dustin, William, Joey, Samantha, and Gina. Cherished sister of Sandi Lewis and Bob Lewis (predeceased), and cherished aunt to Cheryl, Diana, Beth, Larry, Larry, and Michael.
Joan grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and enjoyed sharing stories of her time in a brownstone filled with family. She was a nurse by training and loved giving care, with fond memories of her time at New York Hospital and the National Institute of Health. It was at the NIH where she met her one true love, Allan Goldblatt, when she saw his blue eyes above his surgical mask. They raised their children to center caregiving in their personal and professional lives.
Joan is remembered for her kindness and her deep love of all humanity–her family, her friends, and the random people she would meet in the grocery store or walking down the street. She believed that everyone deserved to be loved and cared for, and lived her life with that as the central theme.
A funeral service and interment for Joan will be held on October 18, 2025 at 1:00PM at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut Street, Newton.
In lieu of flowers, we urge you to give in Joan’s memory to make the world a better place. Joan believed there was much work to be done and a lot of ways to do it. Please find your way and spread some love in her name. Then hug someone you care about, or someone you meet at the grocery store, and tell them what they mean to you.
