My heart broke when I heard this news. I dated John for two years in college and we remained friends to this day.  He was always there for me, and he was one of the first people I turned to when my marriage ended. He was sweet, patient, and a great listener. He loved reading, and family , and always had time for a friend. I am so sad at this news. Prayer to the whole family.

It was a very cold and snowy day in Boston in the 1990’s when John answered my phone call. I can’t say it was not calculated on my part as I was recruiting John to join my team at Royal Caribbean and begin a life at sea. John being the deliberate person he was took his sweet time thinking about the move . There was just enough chill in the air my call that day to spend time on a ship as a Video Programmer (photographer, editor) in the Caribbean hit its mark. A couple of weeks later John was the most accredited and accomplished person I had at that point been able to lure on to a ship.
It was an instant match. John not only enjoyed the time at sea and the instant impact he made on our program but seemed to really enjoy the comradery he found with his ship mates, and of course he became everyone’s friend. Never a bad word about John or his work,
Decades later I was on to another adventure with MTN-TV. Our growth was fast and unexpected.  John was still in South Florida and working outside the TV business. Once again I made the call at the right time as part of John’s new work had him fighting with raccoon’s that day…. he said yes. 
From there John became my right arm in building the business. Everyone thought I was in charge but of course it was John that kept all the trains running and once again everyone in the office loved John. I can’t tell you the number of times I came through as the bull in the China Shop and John stepped in to fix things…I’m sure there was a time or two he missed the racoons.
Long story short John retired, and we remained in touch and of course friends. 
I will miss John and can assure his family there is a long line of folks in South Florida that will miss our deliberate and thoughtful friend as well. I can also let the family know that while John chose to be warm in South Florida, his love for his family, Boston, and that area of the world (especially during the summer) were always the first thing he talked to me about.

So sorry to hear John has left us.  I worked and laughed with John at Royal Caribbean.  He was the lead broadcast guru on The Voyager of the seas.   I learned so much from this iconic man.  A true gentleman

So sorry for your loss.  John was an integral part of the success of MTN TV and I so enjoyed working, laughing and enjoying his work and his humor.   He invited my wife and I to his home which was a block off of Ft Lauderdale Beach for an afternoon.    Great time and memories.

Having John as one of my boyhood best friends was one of the greatest treasures in my young life. We are all made of the early impressions from those close to us in our formative years. In this way, John became part of who I am in this life. How fortunate I feel as one blessed to have shared such a bond with so fine a person. I learned much from John.  I am sorry for his family and friends who are feeling a deep sense of emptiness without him. May your pain give way to fond memories. And May His Memory Be Everlasting!
