John Alan Green, 70, passed away on January 30, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Born on October 27, 1954, in Brockton, Massachusetts, John demonstrated leadership early, serving as President of the Brockton High School Senate at what was then the largest high school in the country. His passion for community engagement inspired him to establish a youth community service organization for teens.
John pursued his interest in media technology at Ithaca College, where he earned a degree in Communications. A devoted fan of the Grateful Dead and WBCN radio, he channeled his creativity and technical expertise into a career as a video editor in the Boston area. Later in life, he relocated to Florida and became an operations manager specializing in broadcast content and satellite transmission for cruise ships. He found great joy living in Fort Lauderdale.
An avid traveler and lifelong learner, John delighted in exploring the world, reading extensively, and collecting vintage cameras. A talented photographer and videographer, he captured countless memories through his lens. A die-hard Boston sports fan, he proudly supported the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics.
John was the beloved firstborn of Barbara and James Green and a cherished older brother to Amy Green, David Green, Frankie Chacon, Debby Green, and Tony Green. He was a devoted uncle to Samuel, Matthew, and Benjamin Green. Family was central to John’s life; he treasured their visits to Florida and holidays spent in Falmouth on Cape Cod.
John’s life was marked by creativity, curiosity, and a deep love for those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
