

Julius (Jay) Mariasis, a longtime resident of Framingham, MA and recently of Ft. Myers, FL died unexpectedly on April 17, 2022. Julie was born in Malden, MA to Martha (Belansky) Mariasis and Morris Mariasis. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Roslyn (Kessel) Mariasis. Julie graduated from Malden High School. While in high school, at a B’nai Brith party, Julie met Roz, his future wife. After graduating, he attended Northeastern University in Boston. He interrupted his studies to enlist in the Army during the Korean War. Julie was stationed in Arkansas as an instructor on the big guns. After he completed his military service, in 1954, he and Roz were married in Boston. They initially settled in Malden but in 1958 moved to Framingham, MA where he would live for the next 58 years. Julie worked for Liberty Mutual and then as a salesman for a chemical company while also completing his business degree at Northeastern University. Education became a dominant theme in his life, as he went on to earn both an MBA and an electronics degree from Boston University, and a Masters in Education from Framingham State University. With his extensive education, Julie began his career as a college Professor, at both Massachusetts Bay Community College in Wellesley, MA and Northeastern University in Boston. He went on to teach college for the next five decades, educating thousands of students during those years.
Julie was a family man – a husband and a father first and foremost. He was actively involved with his children throughout their childhood, a priority for him. He always said one of the most important benefits to him of being a teacher was it gave him time to spend with his family. Julie loved his tennis, a sport he played well into his 80s. He was an excellent player, winning numerous trophies. Julie was extremely entrepreneurial, starting several side businesses. Travel was a passion. He wanted his family to experience the world. Trips were taken to Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the Caribbean Islands. In recent years, he took great pride watching his grandchildren complete their education and begin building their lives.
Julie is survived by his two children, Larry Mariasis (Dori) of Sudbury, MA and Estero, FL, and Sheri Green (Bruce) of Tallahassee, FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jason Mariasis (fiancé Vanessa Beltran) and Eric Mariasis (Zoie Lucas), his great-grandson Theo Mariasis, and several nieces and nephews.
A service will be held promptly at 11am on Sunday morning at the Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington St., in Canton, MA. It will be followed by a graveside service at Sharon Memorial Park. Stanetsky Memorial Chapels Brookline is in care of arrangements. Family and friends are welcome to attend the service.
