Lisa Marian Schwartz, formerly of Marlborough, Massachusetts, New York, NY, Atlanta, GA, and Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, at the age of 58. Lisa survived by her husband of 32 years, Jonathan W. Schwartz; two sons, Ryan and Zachary, of Marlborough; her brother John Toohey of Syracuse, NY; her niece Grace LaQuay of Memphis, TN; and her aunts, Virginia Kenney of Syracuse, NY, and Sally Olech of Camillus, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, John Joseph Toohey and Joan Rita Toohey of Syracuse, NY.
Lisa graduated with a bachelor’s degree from New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology and enjoyed the exciting pace of NYC for several years. She worked at Koret’s fashion district office, assisting top retail buyers across the US, before moving to Massachusetts. There, she married and excelled in several roles, including managing a Retail Jobber office and serving as a Medical Administrative Manager. Later, she became an expert Medical Coder at Concord Dermatology Associates. Her most recent role was as an Ophthalmology Certified Coder with Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston.
In addition to her full career, Lisa raised her two sons and established lifelong friendships for herself and her family through her service as an active den leader in the Marlborough Tiger Cubs and Cub Scouts programs. She supported her children through the youth football and soccer programs, participated in their religious education, and was actively involved in their education at Marlborough’s public schools.
Lisa was an avid world traveler, with cherished trips to Italy, Dubai, Cambodia, Thailand, Ireland, Iceland, Germany, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, all with friends and family. She enjoyed summers in Newport, RI, with her family and frequent spring visits to Denver and Vail, CO. Her love of life and passion for new experiences empowered her to see and experience many cultures distant from her home in Marlborough. New York City held a special place in her heart, and she made many trips back to enjoy the theater and fine food and to meet visiting family members from around the world.
Lisa was a loving wife and a dedicated, caring mother who often hosted gatherings with friends and family to foster lifelong traditions and relationships. Her warmth, humor, and loving manner were felt by everyone she touched, and she was loved by so many who called her a friend. Her decades-long friendships stretch across the country and around the world.
A Funeral service will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 1668 Beacon Street, Brookline, MA 02445, on Sunday, December 28th, at 11:30 AM and followed by a committal service at 1:00 PM at the Independent Pride of Boston Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury, 02132.
