

Berman, Lois “Loie” (Landau) of Peabody, formerly of Chestnut Hill, passed away on February 19, 2025, in Peabody, Massachusetts, after a lengthy illness.
Beloved wife of the late Dr. Bernard “Bernie” A. Berman. Devoted mother of Susan Leibenhaut & her husband, Mark, Steven Landau-Berman & his dear friend Tim DeWys, and Laura Berman & her husband, Stephen “Woody” Carlson. Loving “Grammy” of Andrea Leibenhaut, Jeffrey Leibenhaut & his wife Avery Stewart. Loving sister of Peter Landau & his wife Roberta and the late Burton Landau & his surviving wife Ellen. Devoted sister-in-law of Doris Berman & her late husband Marvin, Barbara Rosenblatt & her late husband Seymour. Special aunt to many nieces and nephews. Cherished companion of the late Bernard “Bunny” Solomon and the late Dr. George Altman.
The family will be forever grateful to Berna, Cathy, Harriet, Faith, and Mildred for their extraordinary care and kindness.
Lois will be remembered for her fierce determination to tackle life's challenges, her generosity in helping and caring for those most important to her, and above all, her love for her family and friends. Lois had a natural elegance and a smile that could light up a room. She possessed a sharp wit and a mischievous spirit. She loved hosting holiday dinners and always made room for one more at the table. She had a great appreciation for the arts and treasured the time spent with loved ones attending a new exhibit, concert, opera, or theatre production. She possessed a remarkable aesthetic eye for the elegant or whimsical that she brought to her homes.
Lois was a lifelong learner and an avid reader, continuously expanding her knowledge through travel, literature, history, and engaging with friends on the day's news. She was a proud graduate of Simmons College, and at age 50, she earned her Juris Doctor degree from the New England School of Law, achieving a lifelong dream. She later obtained a Master of Laws in taxation from Boston University School of Law. Lois spent over 20 years volunteering on the Dana Farber IRB Board, advocating for cancer patients, and 10 years reading for Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic.
