Lorraine was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Worcester at the age of 5. She attended Boston University where she met her husband of 41 years, Norman, and moved to Framingham where they started their life together. It was there that they raised 3 boys and saw their family grow with grandchildren and ultimately her great-grandsons in the last few years.
Family was Lorraine’s everything. She spent her life making memories with her loved ones on Water Street in Worcester at her father’s fruit stand, family dinners at her house, days at the beach in Ogunquit with all the kids, observing holidays at her home, and celebrating weddings and births. There was never enough time spent together- sharing joy, good news and most importantly laughter.
After the death of her husband, Lorraine started a new chapter of her life. She made new friends, became active at the Framingham Senior Center, played mahjong, knitted for the whole family, and attended book club. She was always willing to do anything and go anywhere, usually as the driver with all of her friends along for the ride. She went to dinners in Boston, checked out museum exhibits, previewed wedding venues with her grandchildren, and so much more.
Up until the very end, Lorraine was wedding dress shopping with her future granddaughter and attending her great grandson’s first birthday party. Lorraine lived life to the fullest and was a role model to all of those around her on how to be the best friend, mother, mother-in-law and human being.
Lorraine is predeceased by her parents, Rose & Shepherd Grossman, her husband, Norman Cotton, and brother, Frederick Grossman. She is survived by her children Michael and Sheila Cotton, Steven Cotton, Ken and Dyan Cotton, her grandchildren Alex and Sarah, Joe and Danielle, Sarah and Alex, Jake and Katie, Jared and Mia, and her great-grandsons Noah and Miles.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on August 22, 2023 at Temple Beth Am, 300 Pleasant Street in Framingham. Shiva will be held at Ken and Dyan Cotton’s home at 20 Duggan Drive in Framingham on Tuesday from 3-8pm and Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorraine’s memory may be made to the Framingham Senior Center, 535 Union Ave, Framingham, MA 01702.
