
Max Greenbaum was born in Lowell on April 5, 1919, and was the son of Morris and Mollie (Cohen) Greenbaum. He was predeceased by his siblings Hy, George, Rosalie and Esther. He was married to the late Jane Betty Berlin Greenbaum for 62 years. He is survived by his daughters Laurie Greenbaum Beitch (Douglas) and Abby Greenbaum, and his granddaughters Mollie and Sarah Beitch. In the spring of 1941, Max graduated from M.I.T. with a degree in chemical engineering. The night of his graduation, he was in a terrible car accident. Several days later, with his jaw wired shut, he entered the army. He was based at the Edgewood Arsenal in Baltimore and rose to the rank of major. In 1948, he started a plastics company, Linvure Company. Max spent many happy years playing golf at Chestnut Hill and Spring Valley Country Clubs with his buddies Mac Burstein, Maury Young and Mickey Cail. They called themselves the Four “M’s”. He lived for 60 years in Newton, and wintered in Lake Worth, FL. Max was known for his kindness and humor. He died February 23.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon. Shiva will be held at the Sheraton Needham, 100 Cabot Street, immediately following the burial.
