July 3, 1964 – January 1, 2026
Family and friends are devastated by the sudden loss of Michael Louis Glazerman. A kind and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, he poured love into everything he did.
Michael went to Newton public schools, attended Franklin Pierce College, then graduated from American University in Washington, DC. In his late twenties he took a yearlong trip around the world. When he returned, he went into sales in the recyclable textile business, making a mark in and around Boston, as well as nationally and internationally.
Michael had an exuberance for life, expressed in his love for people and adventure. He made friends easily, keeping old ones, and making new ones. He was a gifted storyteller and life of every party; and he always made sure everyone felt included. He was an avid skier, and loved his softball team, playing left field and batting in lots of runs.
Michael was a dedicated and loving father to Sophia. Her arrival 26 years ago gave his life a new direction and purpose that had a tremendous positive impact on him.
In his adventuresome spirit, Michael made regular trips to Cuba, bringing medicines and gifts to orphaned children in the city of Holguín. There he met the love of his life. Mayi became Michael’s life partner 10 years ago. They married in 2023. Michael had a close relationship with his extended Cuban family, and especially his stepson Esteban and mother-in-law Lourdes.
Michael is survived by his wife Mayelin Batista Perez, daughter Sophia Naomi Glazerman, and stepson Esteban Batista Perez. He was a devoted son to Phyllis Glazerman of Wellesley, and loving brother to Susan Gabel (Yaakov) of Tsfat, Israel, and Shula Glazerman (Jay Rosenheim) of Brookline. He was adored by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends. He was predeceased by his father, Alvin Glazerman z”l, law partner at Edwards and Angell.
The funeral service will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapels, 1668 Beacon Street in Brookline this Sunday, January 4 at 10:30 AM, followed by burial at the Temple Emeth Memorial Park at 776 Baker Street in West Roxbury around noon. A seudah (meal) will follow the funeral on the main floor of 280 Boylston Street in Chestnut Hill around 1:00 PM. All are welcome.
The family will sit shiva at the home of Shula Glazerman and Jay Rosenheim in Brookline, this Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 11am-2pm and 5-8pm, on Friday from 11am-2pm.
