Nancy B. Finn of Newton, Massachusetts passed away peacefully after a brief illness on May 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and innovation. Nancy was born on August 11th, 1943 to Edith and Henry Bernstein of Malden, Massachusetts. Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Peter B. Finn, with whom she shared a lifetime of partnership, warmth, and unwavering support. Nancy was the loving mother of two sons, Jeffrey and David, and his wife Ivy, and the proud and joyful grandmother of Gefen, Alex, Marc, and Sydney. Being a grandmother was one of the greatest joys of her life. She was preceded in death by her sister, Faith Cohen.
Nancy’s deep commitment to family was matched only by her passionate engagement with her community and profession. She was a cherished member, volunteer, and Board Member of Koleinu, Boston’s Jewish Community Chorus. Nancy had a lifelong love of music, spending over 30 years of summers in the Berkshires. She served as the Head of Volunteer Services at Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Lenox, Massachusetts.
Professionally, in her early career, Nancy taught journalism and communications at Boston University and worked as a journalist and executive at several publishing companies. Later in life her passion became healthcare communication and digital health literacy. She authored several books focused on technology to foster more effective, patient-center care —including e-Patients Live Longer, Digital Communication in Medical Practice, and The Electronic Office. Nancy was a respected thought leader in patient advocacy, serving on advisory boards and contributing actively to the Society for Participatory Medicine and Massachusetts Health Quality Partners. She was proud to have spoken at the United Nations in Geneva and New York City.
Above all, Nancy B. Finn will be remembered for her integrity, her compassion, her sharp intellect, and her unyielding commitment of love and support to the lives of her family and others. Whether through the written word, a kind gesture, a powerful song, or time spent with her beloved grandchildren, she touched the world in meaningful ways.
