Rita Hannah Gluzband, 92, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away at Bethesda Hospital East of Boynton Beach, Florida on January 6th. She was predeceased by her husband Frank, a prominent electrical contractor, in January of 1994. She leaves behind her two children Steven Gluzband and Roberta Gluzband, her three granddaughters Melissa Escobar, Deborah Gluzband, Rachel Tanenblatt, her four great grandchildren Gabriela and Sarah Escobar, Charlotte and Philip Tanenblatt, sons-in-law Rosendo Escobar and Jesse Tanenblatt. Rita was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Harry and Esther Silvey on October 17th, 1928. The family, including her older brother Joseph, lived in Dorchester which at the time was the center of Boston Jewry. She was a graduate of Dorchester High School. After her husband retired f rom contracting the couple moved to Lake Worth, Florida. As a lifelong amateur singer and dancer following in the footsteps of her Uncle Louis, who performed in Yiddish vaudeville, she served as the inspiration to her children and two of her grandchildren, who all majored in Music in College. In her adult years in Brookline, Rita became a Bat Mitzvah. She also served as a school volunteer working directly with the children in her neighborhood.Rita is remembered by friends and family alike as an energetic, positive spirit. She will be missed. Services will be held at 9:30AM on Friday June 11, 2021, at Stanetsky Memorial Chapels Brookline 1668 Beacon Street Brookline MA 02445 followed by a procession to the cemetery.
