

Ruth had a passion for all life had to offer. She was an avid reader, nature lover and a patron of the arts. She cared deeply for others, and gave generously of herself to make life better for them in ways both great and small.
A dedicated community member, Ruth was an active volunteer for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Operation ABLE, and various literacy initiatives. Her generous spirit extended to numerous charitable causes, including Temple Beth Sholom, Project STEP, the Framingham Public Library, and the Audubon Society.
Ruth was the beloved wife of Jerry Hertz, who predeceased her in 1993. She is survived by her brother Mark Lemelman; her children Adam Hertz (Joan Gelfand) and Judy Solomon (Monty Solomon); her grandchildren Lindsay Hertz (Zach Gerstein), Josh Daniels (Elianna Daniels), Simone Gelfand (David Wenk), Amy Branse (Eric Branse), and Lia Solomon; and her great-grandchildren Caleb, Mason, Theo, and Talia.
A funeral service and burial were held on January 28, 2025.
