Sanford Cohen

Sanford Cohen, Age 77, of Newton, on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Son of the late Minnie and Jacob Cohen. Beloved husband of the late Barbara Krames Cohen for 54 years. Alumnus of CCNY (Electrical Engineering) and MIT (Master’s Degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering). Awarded the Thomas L. Thurlow Navigational Award for his contribution to the science of navigation. A division leader at the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, and later in his career a consultant for the Navy. He was an internationally respected expert in guidance technology. Above all, a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. Dearly loved father of Craig Cohen, Deborah Cohen and Lisa Cohen Russman. Devoted grandfather of Dara, Jared, Morgan, Benjamin, Abigail, Alyssa, Mia and Sadie. Cherished father-in-law of Lara, George and Matthew. Beloved brother of Eileen Goldman and the late Bernard Cohen, and brother-in-law of Jack Goldman and the late Ann Cohen. His intelligence, wit, generosity, devotion, and hard work were recognized and admired by all who knew him. He will be missed by all.

Services at the Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon on Monday, February 29 at 2:00PM. Memorial observance at the home of Deborah and George following the interment. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, cancer.org.
