

Sheryl K. (Krafchick) Dropkin, age 66, of Newton, MA passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in Newton Centre, daughter of the late Renee & Sidney Krafchick. She graduated with a Bachelors in Mathematics from Skidmore College and completed her MBA at Boston College. She spent over 40 years working in finance and accounting.
Sheryl lived a life marked by dedication to the people she cared about. She was highly involved in her community and gave numerous hours in service of others. As a devoted lifelong member of Temple Emanuel, she held various membership positions on the Board of Directors, the Torah Fund, the Family Education Committee, the Stars of David, and the Cemetery Committee.
Sheryl is survived by her loving husband, Steven Dropkin. They shared a 40 year marriage, filled with magic, love and affection Sheryl is also survived by her beloved children Amanda (Barry) Kaufman of Needham and Andrea (Steven) Mackey of Dedham as well as her adorable grandchildren Grayson Mackey, Isaac Kaufman, Jonah Kaufman, and Finn Mackey. Dear sister of Harris (Ellen) Krafchick of Sharon, and sister-in-law of Laurie (Steven) Schertzer of Stoughton, and first cousin of Stacey Gross of Los Angeles. She is a cherished aunt and great aunt of many adoring nieces and nephews.
Sheryl’s compassion for others and sense of giving was unparalleled. She was known to all throughout her community, she was treasured and revered by all whom she has touched. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, nana, cousin, and friend, with family always of the utmost importance. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her children and grandchildren, and she loved family vacations when she could explore and see new things through the eyes of her grandsons. At every turn, Sheryl developed lifelong friendships and connections, and her kindness was infectious to the people around her.
Services will be held at Temple Emanuel, 385 Ward Street, Newton, MA 02459 on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 11:00am with livestream viewing available using the following link: www.templeemanuel.com/livestream-links/
Interment will be at Temple Emanuel Memorial Park, 490 North Street, Randolph, MA 02368.
The family will be sitting shiva at Temple Emanuel on Monday following the internment through 5pm. Shiva will continue at the home of Amanda & Barry Kaufman on Tuesday, February 13 and Wednesday, February 14 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
