

Stephen Barry Hoffman, 83, passed away peacefully on January 30th, 2026 in Westborough, Massachusetts. Born on September 20, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire, Stephen lived a full and meaningful life rooted in devotion to family, service to his country, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. Stephen was the beloved husband of Marilyn (Adelson) Hoffman. Together they shared 58 years of marriage – a partnership built on love, mutual respect, and shared experiences that spanned decades. He was a devoted father to his two daughters, Sharon Adilman (husband Aaron) and Faith Hoffman. He leaves three beautiful grandchildren, Emma, Nathan, and Naomi and a sister Sylvia Swartz (husband Richard and their daughter Sydney).
Stephen is a 1962 graduate of Brewster Academy in Wolfsboro, NH. He joined the US Navy Spring of 1964, serving as an Equipment Operator in the SeaBee Unit. He served active duty for two years in Iceland and the United States. After an honorable discharge in Spring, 1966 he chose to purse a certificate in HVAC from Northeast Institute in Boston, which he perfected his skills and went on to have a fruitful career spanning over 50 years. His places of work included Holyoke Equipment Company, Mount Holyoke College, and e-Ink.
Stephen had many interests and hobbies. He loved driving, camping, sailing, and skiing. He was talented at playing trumpet and musette. He was involved in several organizations including BBYO-AZA, Indian Princesses, Masons Scottish Rite, Melha Temple Shriners (Oriental Band), Aleppo Temple, Synagogue Brotherhood, and HAM Radio Club. Most of all he enjoyed spending quality together with friends and family. He was an active participant at Congregation B’Nai Jacob in Springfield, Mass and at Temple Emanuel in Marlborough, Mass. His main contribution to the temples were in maintenance. He kept operations of the buildings running smooth.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 3rd at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 1668 Beacon Street, Brookline, arrival starting at Noon and beginning at 12:30 PM sharp. Interment will be at Koretzer Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury at 2:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to sit shiva at Temple Emanuel to follow the burial at 150 Berlin Road, Marlborough at 3:00 PM with a service at the temple starting at 5:30 PM.
