I met Mrs. Camille a few years ago, I live nearby her, we have the same deep love for cats and that connected us throughout the years in such way that I saw her as mother figure, she loved my daughter as her own granddaughter, she cheered her every time she scored good grades, went once with me to the student of the month to support my daughter, she texted me every time she had a pediatrician appointment, kept texting when my daughter had pneumonia, every holiday, she stopped by and gave my daughter a hug and a gift, reminded her how much she loved her, kept in touch every time she got sick, texted me often to see if we were doing fine. it has been heartbreaking her passing, we thought angels like Mrs. Camille will stay with us longer to give us that love, to remind us that we aren’t alone, I never felt lack of motherly love because of her, she gave me that and much more. When she got sick she never complained, she reminded me to have faith  no matter the circumstances, she was a warrior till the end. My daughter and I are so brokenhearted that we didn’t have a chance to say goodbye, we found out she died just recently, I don’t find the words to explain my daughter That her grandma went to heaven, and I don’t even know how process it myself. We love her endlessly and always will.she’s finally resting and no longer in pain, but how do we go everyday looking out at her window every morning knowing she’s not there anymore. We looked forward bumping into her when spring arrived, she used be standing outside the door, my daughter ran to her for hug after school, we have some many memories, only wonderful ones of Mrs. Camille. My condolences to her family and friends.

Today I am paying tribute to a beautiful soul.

Camille Modica, Tony’s right hand for 30 years, has passed away after her battle with cancer. Today she is laid to rest by her family. 

Camille was a true Brooklynite, with that classic Brooklyn Italian twang in her voice. She was known for her straightforwardness, her strong work ethic, and wonderful sense of humor. Although a real cat lover, she had a special bond with our Libby 🐾. Each morning, she would bring Tony his bagel and perhaps a fruit salad. Always check in on him when he had an off day during his 10 year battle. We were so sad to see her go through her  cancer journey and the news she lost her own battle was a surprise. We often think we have time to see our loved ones and friends. It wasn’t meant to be for us. 

Camille was a wonderful colleague to many at Cobble Hill Health and a most loyal friend to Tony. Even after their retirements, she continued to send him daily texts.

May she rest in peace. If there is such a thing as an afterlife, I hope Camille and her ‘boss’ (as she always called Tony) are sharing a good laugh and are looking down on us with joy.

To her family: May the memories of the good times and laughter and love you shared sustain you in these difficult times.

I met Camille at the 8:30 Mass. We ushered together. I will miss bringing her my homemade baking treats, our weekly text messages and I will mainly miss our walks and talks after Mass to Avenue U. My condolences to her family. Rest in peace my friend . ❤️🙏❤️

My condolences to Camille's family.  I met Camille 5 years ago  when we began praying the Rosary together on zoom  for an end  to the pandemic.  We spoke each night dilligently at 7:30 PM while waiting for the others to log on and pray. She was the most faithful person I have ever met and one of great faith in God.  She never complained.  I was blessed to be able to join her for lunch only 2 weeks ago.  She  will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.                                               Tina Moore

Having fun at work with Camille before she retired, Camille always knew what to say to make us laugh.

How do you add just one memory about a woman who was such a huge part of your childhood. Growing up around Camille was the best, everyone knows what a ball buster she was and the fact that it went on for years back and forth with her was the best… from us hiding on her to her screaming at us for running in the ally, Camille was everyone’s friend, sister, aunt and even the person you could confide in when you needed to… my deepest condolences to her family at this time… RIP
