
Christopher (Chris) George Benain, born on September 5, 1960 in Kingston, Jamaica, was the son of Ena Henry Johannes and Rupert George Benain, and passed away at home on June 5, 2013. Chris, who migrated to the United States in 1973, is survived by his three (3) children Ashley, Christipher Jr., and Alexis. along with his former wife Sophia. Also left to mourn are his stepfather Winston Johannes, sisters Judith Fagan, Carol King, Sharon Reid, brothers Michael Benain, Paul Benain Marshall, David Benain Duke, Paul Benain Duke, Aunts Joyce Henry and Kathleen Watt, and her husband Arthur Watt, nephews Tristan, Ryan, Robert, Michael, nieces Tiffany and Kelly, and brothers in law Gil King and Gladstone Fagan. Additionally left to mourn are Michael & Rosalie Barrett and family, Kim Pagan and family, Althea Rankin and family, Edwin Francois and family, Courtney Brandth and family, and Malverna Scantlebury and family.
Chris graduated from George W. Wingate High School in Brooklyn, New York and upon graduation enlisted and joined the United States Army in 1980. While in the US Army, Chris spent most of his enlistment stationed in Germany until being honorably discharged in 1987. Upon returning to the United States, Chris joined the Sanitation Department for the City of New York where he served the City Admirably until his passing.
Chris, who was known for his outgoing personality, was always willing to give a helping hand even to a stranger in the dead of night. No matter the circumstance, Chris could always be counted on to assist.
