I was a very close friend of Frank's during our teenage years. My fondest memories were playing ball with him. He was always much stronger than me and would get extra base hits while I hit singles. It would make him mad when I would bunt for base hits and edge him out for batting average. I remember him hitting a shot in the Parade grounds that must have rolled 450 feet and even Frank who was not the fastest runner easily got a home run. I can still smell the oil that was used on the field to keep the dirt from blowing around. Frank was the type of guy everyone loved without being loud and I would have him more if he wasn't a Yankees fan. Not many people knew it but Frank was one heck of an arm wrestler and would beat almost all comers with his right arm and he was left handed. Frank had the greatest work ethic of anyone I knew He was always working even as a youngster working at the luncheonette. I always would ask him "How's the tuna Frank". You can't make old friends. May he rest in peace.
