I am so saddened to hear of Gerald's death.  Oh my God, what a loss.  I knew him from his incredible work with the Vito Marcantonio Forum and from his book.  He was such a playful, wise guide about all things Marcantonio whenever I went to a VMF event.   I send condolences to the Meyer family and to the larger VMF family that Gerald so lovingly supported.  That I barely knew Gerald and am feeling his absence speaks to what a deep impression he made on people.  

May he rest in a beautiful place!

Professor Gerald Meyers' legacy will be shared with generations to come.  His many years of giving back to the Community he loved and cared for.
His determination to educate our youth and will not be forgotten especially at Hostos Community College.
We will remember his writings, his speeches, and most of all his wit.
He was a humanitarian in the best sense of the word.
Yes. he will be missed but not forgotten.

Professor Meyer was one of the more important people in the history of Hostos Community College and CUNY. He was an outstanding member of the faculty as a scholar, a teacher and as a defender of the college when it was threatened by the fiscal crisis. He was a beloved colleague who made our university a better place. He has our gratitude and appreciation.

Luis, Adam, and Anna, and all Gerry's family: I'm so sad for you (and for myself too). Gerry was a dear friend, a true mensch, and a true friend of the poor and exploited people of the world. To have known him and worked with him at the Brecht Forum was a great privilege.
