To the Sutherland family,

I have known John for the past 26 years and I would like to say he was a true gentleman and friend to those that knew him.

I worked for Mr. Sutherland back in 1979 through the 80's at Lord Abbett & Co.  I just learned of his passing.  What a kind, genteel man and employer.  I think of him often still and will light a candle for him in prayer this evening.  May God bless him and keep him in everlasting peace.

A devoted and generous friend of the Montauk Club of Park Slope, Brooklyn, he will be missed by all.

John and I met at Yale Graduate School we became lifelong friends even after he joined the army and became a banker. He was one of the most faithful friends and always was available to help. I  miss him.

John was a gentleman in every sense of the word.  He left us too soon.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends during this time.
