Beloved wife of Joseph for 60 years!
Loving mother of Michael Coluccio, Alice Marie & Jerry Rorke and Dianne Coluccio. Cherished and adored "Nana" of Brendan & Jackie Rorke, Daniel Rorke, Gregory Rorke and Mary Grace Rorke.
Lucille Coluccio is a Brooklyn native and enjoyed growing up and raising her family in the home she always knew. As one of three children to Paul and Nympha Aiello, she grew up in her father’s laundry business, with one of her most vivid childhood memories being riding around in her father’s laundry truck sitting on the bundles of freshly laundered clothes.
Lucille attended Catherine McCauley High School, and then went on to earn her degree in Fashion Buying and Merchandising from LIM with a business degree from Hunter College. When she first started out in the fashion industry, she landed a job as a hat model for the millenary company Betmar and was known as “Miss Lucille” in the modeling world. She then landed a job as a buyer for Oppenheim Collins Department Store in NYC.
Lucille then met her loving husband Joe and they were married in 1964. They had 3 children and Lucille stayed home to raise her family. As a young wife and mother, Lucille was a dedicated volunteer with so many local community organizations including the Girl Scouts, the Rosary Sodality, CCD, remedial reading programs at Sts. Simon and Jude and of course the SSJ players where she was a costume and set designer for many of their wonderful shows. Her volunteerism spanned many decades as the children grew and she re launched her working career as a fundraiser for Franciscan Missionary Union until her retirement in 2005.
Lucille also had a great love for art and was a very talented painter, working with acrylics and oils and displaying her beautiful artwork in art shows along the east coast. She was an amazing cook and was happiest when the family gathered around the dining room table. She cherished her family and her many friends. She was a proud member of the Sts. Simon and Jude Parish and this Gravesend neighborhood. She thoroughly enjoyed word games and was the scrabble champion extraordinaire! She also knitted blankets for the Calvary Hospice Center at NYU Langone in Brooklyn, where she spent the last days of her life’s journey. Her focus was always on everyone else’s needs before her own. A beautiful selfless example of Christ’s love. Lucille Coluccio had a profound impact on so many people’s lives, especially her family and she will be greatly missed
A visitation for Lucille will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Cusimano & Russo Funeral Home, 2005 West 6th St, Brooklyn, NY 11223.
