Maria “Mary” Garofalo passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, December 15, 2018. She was a long time resident of Brooklyn, NY. She was born on December 22, 1925 in Italy. After the war, she moved to Brooklyn with her mother. While traveling to the United States, she met her husband, Peter Garofalo, of 50+ years. Her husband and her son, Roy Garofalo preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Joyce Kreitzman of Charlottesville, Virginia; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Garofalo of Staten Island, NY; and her grandchildren – Jennifer Lamb and her husband, Brandon Lamb, of Charlottesville VA; Dana Garofalo of Staten Island, NY; John Michael Kreitzman and his wife, Liz Long, of Manassas, VA; and Dean Garofalo of Staten Island, NY. She was a strong, caring and loveable woman. Her smile and laugh were contagious, and she will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thanks to the caregivers that allowed her the opportunity to stay in her home. Visitation is being held at Cusimano and Russo on Wednesday, 12/19, from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. On Thursday, 12/20, there will be a Funeral Mass at St. Simon and Jude at 9:45am followed by a cemetery service in Pinelawn Memorial Park Farmingdale, NY..
