Reading these tributes is heartwarming.  

My Uncle Mike was there through thick and thin.  When I think of him, I think I learned the greatest lesson from him:  he showed up. 

Showed up for his family, showed up for his friends, and I can see from reading these tributes, showed up for his fellow NYPD colleagues.  

Showed up in the most difficult of circumstances, rain or shine, so to speak.   

He certainly showed up for me.  If I wrote it all here, I'd have to publish it as a book.   

There's a power in that.   A lot of power.

As a young boy, you're watching and learning.    I learned a lot.

Saw him every week at Sunday dinner at my grandmother's house.  I could write at least a chapter about those dinners.  A lot of laughter.

I watched him with my Uncle Pete, his brother, and could laugh my a-- off about their interactions to this day.  Same with my Uncle Steve and my mother Marie, my grandmother and my great aunt Catherine.

Watched him with his daughter Karan and his grandchildren as well.

He loved his nephews and nieces too; you could see and feel it clearly.

Loved his daughter and her family more than words can express.

Life seems long, then it seems too short.

My mother will miss him dearly, as I'm sure Karan, Joe, Ryan, and Drew will also.  

I will too.

I was Mike’s sister-in -law when he was married to Catherine Fox , he was my husbands best man at our wedding, he was one of the kindest people I ever met and was godfather to our firstborn. He was also the best father and grandfather! God Bless you Mike!

I first met Chief Fox in 1993, when he was the CO of Midtown South and I was helping produce the Seventh on Sixth Fashion Shows in Bryant Park.
I worked with him on many, many events over the next 10 years and he was always a pleasure to work with.  I had tremendous respect for him and how he operated.  Even after his retirement he sometimes still helped advise me on some events.
He was always very helpful and the only time I can remember him asking for a favor was when he asked if his grandson can ride on "Thomas the Tanker" during a Toy Fair Parade I was managing.  It was my pleasure to assist and he enjoyed it!

I was fortunate to have worked for Mike in the 10th,13th,17th & MSTF. Mike's sense of humor was in that quiet perfectly timed way. It came from paying attention to people, situations and life itself.
He'd drop a line that stayed with you for days.
Losing him leaves a gap you don't really fill.
He left behind a way of thinking- to laugh when you can and enjoy the journey.

When other officers would tell me how lucky we were to know and work for Chief Fox, I would respond by saying, no—the word isn’t “lucky”; we are blessed. From our trips to the old Boston Garden to driving the Chief while we had our morning coffee and smoke, he never changed—always cool, steady, and compassionate. He truly cared about and looked out for the people who worked for him. I will miss my best friend dearly. Rest in peace, Mike.

I have fond memories of spending Christmas time with Uncle Mike when I was very young. Uncle Mike was my Godfather and I always cherished him. I’ll never forget how generous he was with his time one Fall day in 1989 when he allowed me to shadow him while I filmed a day in his life in the NYPD for a college project.  There was nothing he would not do to accommodate me. The best part of that day, and major featured moment in the film, was the shoe shine machine he showed me at his precinct, as it was thankfully a slow day of crime that day.  God Bless Uncle Mike and all his family:)

We drove Michael Jackson into MSG up ramp as his entourage went a different direction we snuck them in the back door. That was the Chief idea so it wouldn’t be a problem. He was right. Jackson wasn’t too happy about being in the back of a police car.

One of the best if not the best. I grew and was his paper boy in the neighborhood. I was assigned down on the lower east side and I believe he was a Lt. or captain. He was a good and fair man, I never worked directly under him but we worked out of the same building on the lower east side. A True Gentleman.

My sincere thoughts to the family.Chief Fox was my CO in the 10pct. and I think by him working as a Police Officer in the 9th for the extended time that he did,and then started up the ranks when others were retiring made him the best boss you can ever have. As a boss he still remembered his men and gave them the respect they needed because he was in their shoes for long. he listened to them and appreciated their work.The best CO ever. I drove him on a late tour when he had the duty,and sure enough that cigar came out and lit up. Gave a look and I was ok,but it was a rainy night and could not open window,lol,we had a great tour.  Any time he saw you no matter the amount of time that went by,he saw you ,called you by your first name and asked if everything was good. R.I.P you will be missed.

I had the honor of working with Chief Michael Fox for much of my career. We were Lieutenants together in the MSTF and became the best of friends.  He was always there for me whenever I needed guidance and advice.  He was a Great Boss, a mentor and most importantly a friend. I respected him and loved him.  I will truly miss him. Mike Fox was the Chief assigned to one of those ethnic parades that go down Broadway near Madison Square Park. The parade organizers complained that vehicles involved with a wedding were taking the spots that were assigned to the designated area to park the parade floats . I asked Chief Fox what should we do about those cars? He said, “In my way of thinking the people running the parade do this every year and they’re going to have to figure it out. That bride -this is the biggest day of her life and we’re not going do anything that would diminish her experience today.” That’s one of the reasons why I was grateful to work for a such a man.

My sincere condolences to the family! Chief Fox always had one philosophy that I know of,  “Treat everyone you interact with the way you want your family members treated!”  I always thought that was a good idea! May he rest in Peace!

One of the Best Bosses I had the pleasure to work with ! Im just out of the Academy and assigned to drive him for a day tour, the first thing he does is light up one of his favorite cigars he turns to me and says  is there a problem and I say No Sir. I roll down my window stick my head out the window and drive on ! Eight hours later sick as a dog he says good job ! Great Great Boss he will always be remembered!!!! Condolences for Chief Michael P. Fox

I’m deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Chief Michael P. Fox. I had the privilege of working in PBMS from the mid‑1980s through 1996, and during those years Chief Fox stood out as a true “cop’s cop” — steady, fair, and always a gentleman in every sense of the word.

His leadership left a mark on everyone who had the honor of serving alongside him. He carried himself with dignity, treated people with respect, and embodied the very best of what this job can be. I’m grateful to have known him, and I’m better for the time our paths crossed.

My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, and to his blue family who feel this loss just as deeply. May he rest in peace, and may his memory continue to guide and inspire all who follow in his footsteps.

He personally came to me and said
