My dearest. I am with tears. I can not believe this shocking completely unbelievable. No one told me.  You know how much love there was between us.  Unknowing I lost a brother friend, my life is inclose, within Pietro - a true man, the most honest hard working man, a true family man A UNICO AL MONDO won't find like him any more.  
Rosa is now in my thoughts and prayers. Give her a big hug for me and my profound heart felt condolences to all 7 of you.  I just  can not believe....

So sorry for your loss. Uncle Pete was a special man. No words can express to you how sorry I am for you and your families. He will always be in your hearts forever.

30 years ago .. I met a man and a family .. That hold a special place in my heart .. Looking for an apt with 3 children was not easy .. Until I met Pete ; ) 
He said kids .. No problem .. And there started a friendship .. From zucchini flowers to the jarring of the tomatoes .. There was always a knock on the door .. Jars of tomatoes .. Zucchini flowers fried up so tasty .. He reminded me of my grandpa in his garden tending .. Pruning .. So on and so on .. Every Christmas a phone call .. And always a Christmas card .. Handle bar mustache .. Coffee on the table .. After dinner cordial .. My heart hurts for Pete's family. Rose and his children .. He was a good man , good husband , good father , and a good friend ..RIP Pete .. Keep a watch on Rose.. Xoxo. Mike , Donna & family

Memorial mass is being held  for our Blessed DAD At St, Simon & Jude church on Sat. Sept 21st at 11:30 mass.

Pete was a great man. I will always remember him fondly.

Pete was always a kind, honest, hard - working man who loved his family. My thoughts and prayers to out to you.

I met Pete over 42 years ago, I was 10 years old. He welcomed me into his home and family and Lilian and    I became best friends, I will be forever greatful. I will always have fond memories from all the great gatherings at his house.He was always such a fun person to be around he had great wit and charm and I learned so much from him.He lived a rewarding life and accomplished so much in his lifetime. Pete will always be remembered as the hardworking, intelligent loving husband and father that he was. I thank him for all my fond memories and extend my sincere sympathy to my friend Lilian, Rose and the DiBerardino family durning this sad and mournful time. LOVE YOU ALL..Dolores

Dear Cancer
I want to let you know you started the fight with my Uncle Pete.  Uncle Pete was the father of seven kids and the grandfather of fourteen children.  He was a kind-hearted man who always had his door open for anyone to come in, visit and eat.  My Uncle Pete was a amiable man who was loved by his family, friends, and neighbors. Uncle Pete was a fighter that never lost.  He was a strong, hard working man.  He did not lost the fight against you, but he listened to his kids and God who told him to rest and close his eyes.  Now, we DiBerardinos adorn a pin  on our chests that says  "Cancer Sucks".

My heart is crying for you and your family.  I loved your Dad..... he was always so nice to me....

Sorry about your Dad, he was one of my favorites!  A real old  school family man.....

Peter DiBerardino was a strong, admirable, respectable, and intelligent man. He grew up in Abruzzo and eventually lived out his life in America. Because of his vibrant personality and interest in language, he was able to master the language of every country he established residency in and ended his life trilingual. His intelligence and interest in culture was only superseded by his selflessness and his passion for his family. My grandfather made great sacrifices out of love to support his devoted wife and seven children. While his journey was long and hard, he never lost sight of what really mattered to him, his family. After learning that he had terminal cancer, he sought out to provide for my grandmother one last time. He performed this task by replacing their old fridge, bathroom sink, and cabinets. However, he did not take these tasks lightly. He had a vision in mind and played an active role in achieving them. Before getting his wife a new fridge, he took out his handy ruler and wrote down the dimensions he needed and shopped until he found a perfect match. During my last visit, I noticed that my once invincible grandfather has succumbed to his cancer. He had become frail and couldn't open a bottle of water without using plyers. Just as I started to have my doubts, he pulled me over to the bathroom that he had remodeled and explained to me how the job wasn't being done readily enough so he did part of the job himself. The same man who struggled to open a water bottle went into his garage and got his tools to complete this job for his wife. When he went to show me what he had done, he had noticed that the glue he had placed by the sink had leaked onto the bathroom floor. As I went to clean up the mess, he grabbed the paper towels from my hands and slowly bent down on the floor to clean it himself. He shoved me away and said that he didn't want me to do it because he didn't want me to get my hands dirty from the glue. My grandfather endured pain and suffering to bend down to the floor all so I didn't get my hands dirty.  At this moment I realized that I was wrong, my grandfather was and remains to be invincible. He has overcome all the obstacles in his life from raising seven children to cleaning up glue from the floor. Even now, he has overcome death by continuing to live on in our hearts. I am forever grateful to have such a great role model in my life and a mother who was built in his image. Nonno, ti vogliamo bene per sempre. Riposino in pace.

My heart broke with the news of uncle Pete's passing... He always had a ready smile and a heart of gold.... You will be missed everyday... I AM A BETTER PERSON FOR KNOWING YOU! I LOVE YOU UNCLE.PETE TIL WE MEET AGAIN!!!

Our Dad was a family man who welcomed all that entered our home. Dad also enjoyed having a large family thou he only was raised with an younger brother.  Our Dad was married for 56 wonderful years to our Mom in which they had 7 children and 14 grandchildren whom he loved very much and was proud. Growing up we were kept busy being with each others company. We were taught family values. We had breakfast on the weekends together, played cards, had running races, wrestling matches in which our parents played in, made homemade meals,home made sauce, homemade wine and suprasada and sausages, cleaned the cars as a group and lets not forget the weekends were always parties at our home. Enjoyed Dads childhood stories from  back home in Italy and his adventures in life traveling from Italy to Venezuela to New york. Dad was respected by all near and far. everyone praised him for his good children when we went out and that made him very proud. Dad made sure that his family was always taken care of. We had everything we could think of and made sure that we were all happy.
Dad has been diagnoised with a relapse of  cholangio carcinoma disease for the past year and had alot of people fooled by his health. Since July Dads health has deteriorated . What a strong man he was and never complained of pain knowing that his children would run to comfort him and that we all had families to take care of.
Dad made sure that mom was well taken care of and the home was fixed before his departure.He told us each time we spoke how he loved us and was proud how we took care of both of them in every aspect.. DAd was a very smart, intelligent person and no one could be allowed to take advantage of him. He offered himself to help any one in need if he can help them.
I will miss being his dancing partner and miss my after work visits with him during the weekdays. I will miss his presence when i visit or Dad having our short telephone conversations. Dad always expressed love and Dad would  always give me compliments or tell me how pretty i looked,  Dad knew when i was tired or mad. Dad  was a person you can talk to and give you all the answers you needed from him.
Dad was a respected man , hard working, lovable, and strong in all areas.
Dad shared his time with his sons  in their younger years by teaching them the trade with their hands. They were taught how to paint, fix anything around the home. Use all types of tools from his garage.  As far as the girls made sure we knew how to cook and care for the home. Family values. Know I can say Dad you will always be in our hearts. I am so happy that Joseph had the time to spend the weekends with you and treasure those special moments you have for 21 years with him. As far as Frank & I  we will truly miss you in so many different ways and i will always hold a seat for you at the table. I wanted you to stay with us forever DAd and you know that but we got short changed with your years with us, I will always remember your smile. I will miss you  tremendously.Rest in peace. My Nonno was the strongest and most selfless man I have ever known. His love for his family was unconditional and his strength unmeasurable. I could only be so lucky to find a man as noble as you to start my own family with. We will all carry on your spirit and virtues, I promise to not disappoint you in my years ahead, I will make you even more proud of me than you already were. It is because of you that are and that we have all and everything. For that I am eternally grateful. You knew your final days on this Earth were coming as you had expressed to me that you still felt too young, but my response to you is "life is not measured by the breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away". I hope we, your family have given you an infinite number of these memories. I hope that you have found peace and no more suffering in heaven, and that God welcomed you with open arms, house slippers, and a big comfy chair. Riposa in pace Nonno; stai sempre nel mio cuore.

Peter will truly be missed by all of us. I loved seeing and speaking with him whenever I saw him on West 6th Street, as he made sure the sidewalk was clean or tending to anything that needed attention in front of the house! It was always a pleasure to help him, whenever he came in for something. Peter always thought he was bothersome, but that was never the case. One of his often-spoke lines to me: "I no wanna be a bother." He was never that and his presence will be missed, always.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time. Although we didn't know Mr. Diberardino, we know he was a special and kind man to have raised such beautiful children.

TODAY WE LOST A GREAT MAN, A MAN WHO WOULD DO IT ALL FOR YOU AND IF HE COULD'NT, HE WOULD BUILD IT FOR YOU. A MAN WHO BATTLED CANCER HEAD ON AND DID NOT ALLOW ANYBODY TO KNOW JUST HOW SICK HE WAS. ANYONE WHO KNEW MY FATHER IN LAW KNOWS IT WAS PROBABLY THE ONLY FIGHT HE EVER LOST IN HIS LIFE. DAD, YOU WILL BE MISSED .

 If you know my DAD, he was a strong,fair and no non sense type of guy. lf you would  ask him a question about building something, he would be there the next day and teach you how to do it.  DAD has been dealing with cancer for 10 years.  This last one took dad from us. Dad never once complained about the pain he was in..  DAD would tell everyone he had no pain.  Even when you saw it in his face.  Dad would tell the doctors he had no  pain . The  doctors would examine dad, and  dad Never flinched,.  All of dads doctors told us girls how strong he was.  So we thought   dad   would be here longer.  I think dad knew his time was coming  he made sure thing in the house got fixed or brought. Dad was making sure Mom would be ok.  Mike at cusimino  even told me  dad  was always thinking about mom, putting my mom first.  People are  telling us kids this.  Dad even took care of the services for us all.  DAD did not want Mom or us kids to deal with  this extra  saddness. Dad always thought of us kids. Even when we drove him crazy.  Seven kids,  LOTS  of problems. Some of us kids are just like him in many ways. The good ways, his strong minded attitude,his fairness in situations and no non sense  attitude.  The one trait he gave  Most of us is his abruzzi  temperment. Some of  us his witty sense of humor. Or telling someone where to go. Or just beening handy around the house.  Dad was always up for a challenge even in his 70 ready for a good fight.   The girls even got my father  to always say  I LOVE YOU   after talking to him on the phone or leaving us.   Do you know  how hard  it is to get a strict strong italian father  to say these works.  He did not want  us to think he was to soft.   As he got older  he became soft.  On his last day with me I keep telling  him i loved him and if he needed anything.   Dad told me  he   LOVED  ME  TOO  thats all i  needed from him . The only thing he said he needed was LOVE,    THAT DAD YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE  FROM YOUR BABY GIRL.   People have been kind to my family with beautiful thought and story.  One of my friends call my father the general for some reason. Dad had a  handle bar mustache the same one as the guy on tv. So everytime  I see  this commerial i would laugh.  Now everytime i see it, it will remind me of you dad the general.  I can go on,and on about how great my dad is. The story he told us about how crazy he was., but if we did half the thing he did he would have made us pay dearly, remember strict italian dad.                     I AM SO HEART BROKEN THAT GOD HAS TAKEN HIM FROM US ALL.  I GUESS GOD NEEDED HIM TO FIX SOMETHING IN HEAVEN.
