Sadie Ann Balcita tragically passed away on August 10, 2023. Born to Joel and Karla Balcita in New York on September 20, 2014, Sadie was known to all her friends, family, and teachers as sweet, kind, and full of silliness. Her favorite things to do were to draw, paint, and sketch, and she had dreams of becoming an artist and going to Paris to “speak croissant.”
Sadie was quick-witted and able to make everyone laugh. She was a wonderful friend and lit up every room she entered. She adored her older brother Julian, and she loved her family beyond measure. Some of her greatest pleasures were going on vacations, swimming in the pool, and playing at the beach. But—most of all—she loved unicorns.
Sadie’s joy and sparkling spirit will live on in all those who loved her. In addition to her loving parents and brother, she is survived by her paternal grandparents Angel and Dolores Balcita; her maternal grandmother Dorothy Walsh; her aunts and uncles Angela Balcita and Chris Doyle, and Leah and Brett Ellis; and her cousins Kaitlin, Nico, Luke, and Addison. Sadie is preceded in death by her maternal grandfathers Karl Starratt and Gerry Walsh.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Sadie on Friday, August 18 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Black Forest Brooklyn restaurant (181 Smith St, Brooklyn, NY 11201). The family will be wearing pink to the Celebration of Life and invites guests to join in wearing Sadie’s favorite color in her honor.
