Tom “Tommy” Mainor, 69, of Brooksville, Florida, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016. He was born in Camden, New Jersey to the late Thomas Daughtry & Elvina Frances (Elbe) Mainor, on September 3, 1946, and moved to Florida in 1982 from Mt. Laurel, New Jersey. Tommy retired from by Bell South- New Jersey & Withlacoochee Electric Company in Florida. He was a very passionate and avid fisherman in fresh water and saltwater. Tommy was a commercial fisherman for 2 years mostly for Red Grouper and loved to be on the ocean. He was also a collector of Indian Arrowheads and in his youth enjoyed hunting in Maine and the Northeast and liked to travel and enjoy the mountains as well. He was a family man and loved his family more than anything. Tom served our country in the United States Marine Corp. and served during the Vietnam War. He was of the Christian faith. He was known to be a very happy man. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Ricky Mainor in 1970. Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carol M. Mainor of Brooksville, Florida; 3 daughters: Michelle Payton and her husband Bobby of Wesley Chapel, Florida; Kellie Clinton and her husband Kevin of Gainesville, Florida and by Tommi DeMasi and her husband Pete of Land O’ Lakes, Florida; 6 grandchildren: Collin Payton, Jackson Payton, Kathryn Clinton, Kylie Clinton, Calvin DeMasi and Everett DeMasi and by a sister, Vickie Budd and her husband Timmy of Lumberton, New Jersey. The family and friends will gather at the Turner Funeral Homes Brooksville Chapel, 504 E. Jefferson St., Brooksville, FL 34601 on Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM with a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. A Cremation Committal will follow the services at Brooksville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, in donations may be made in Tommy Mainor's memory to HPH Hospice Foundation, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL 34667.
